The hull shape for our canoe was made of four parts: Vee, a curved keel, a shallow concave bottom, and a flat bottom. This design was to give improved tracking for paddlers in the front, and improved stability and turning for paddlers in the back.
The canoe was treated as a simply supported beam with three different loading scenerios: two paddlers close to the bow and stern, 2 person racing position, and 4 person racing positions.
One of the task given to us by our lab manager was to build a modular stand to hold the canoe, that can be broken down and put away afterword.
AutoCAD for the design can be found here.
